Get Started

Level 10 users can enable or disable Personalization in site settings and control which pages will show dynamic content. Users levels 8 through 10 can create Personalization content. Users levels 1 through 10 can add Personalization content to pages and all users can see visitor activity data.

Enable Personalization for your site(s)Link to this section

Level 10 administrators,

  1. Go to Setup > Sites > Optional Features.
  2. Select the Personalization checkbox.
  3. Save.

Enable Personalization individually for each site to create dynamic content once and use it in all sites in your account.

Level 10 administrators, ensure your privacy policy notifies your site visitors about the use of first-party cookies before enabling tracking. 

Personalization uses a secure tracking service to determine whether a page shows default or dynamic content. Users levels 8 through 10, enable tracking on a page, file, or folder (non-recursively) to allow dynamic content. Level 9 and 10 administrators can enable tracking on a directory or site.

To track visitor data while on a page, go to Properties > Access. Or 

  1. Go to Content > Pages.
  2. Click the More Actions menu for the page or folder you'd like to track.
  3. Click Edit > Access.
  4. Select "Yes" for Enable Tracking.
    • Users levels 9-10 can enable for a directory or site by selecting "Apply Selected Settings to This Folder and All Enclosed Files and Folders"
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Publish.

You can now create and launch dynamic content in Content > Personalization.

Users levels 8 through 10 can create three types of dynamic content: Text, Block, and Page Forwarding. Each type of dynamic content has three variations: Returning Visitor, Geolocation, and Page Visited.

Dynamic Text Content

For this example, let's create dynamic text based on a returning visitor to our site. Dynamic text content inherits styling (font, weight, and color) where it's placed.

  1. Go to Content > Personalization.
  2. Click +New.
  3. Type to enter a name for your dynamic content.
  4. From the Dynamic Content Type dropdown, select Text.
  5. Type to enter the default text.
    • Default text is shown when the visitor first views your site or when no variations match.
  6. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Returning Visitor.
  7. Click +Add Variation.
  8. Select the number of visits. 
  9. Enter the text that will show after a user meets the number of visits.
  10. Click Save.
    • Add additional variations (optional).
  11. Click Launch.

Your customized content is now available for use on pages.

Geolocation

Set your customized content to show based upon the geographic location of your site visitor, as follows:

  1. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Geolocation.
  2. Click +Add Variation.
  3. From the Region Scope dropdown, select Cities, States, or Countries.
  4. Select the checkbox(es) for the region(s) to include in your scope.
    • Up to 25 regions.
  5. Select the radio button to show the variation if the visitor is inside or outside the region.
  6. Enter text or choose a file to show as your variation.
  7. Click Save.
    • Add additional variations (optional).
  8. Click Launch.

Page Visited

Set your customized content to show after your site visitor lands on a certain page, as follows:

  1. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Page Visited.
  2. Click +Add Variation.
  3. From file chooser, select the page visited.
  4. Enter text or choose a file to show as your variation.
  5. Click Save.
    • Add additional variations (optional).
  6. Click Launch.

Users levels 1 through 10 can insert dynamic content on PCF, HTML, and INC file types. You can use a single dynamic content item on as many pages as you like, with one item per page.

Add dynamic page forwarding while you're editing the properties. Add dynamic text or block content to pages while you're editing the content, as follows:

  1. While editing an editable region, click Insert Dynamic Content A lightning bolt icon.
  2. In the Choose Dynamic Content box, click a filename.
    • You can filter by type or name.
  3. Click Insert.

You will see the dynamic content placeholder on the page.

Drag the placeholder to move the content anywhere in the editable region.

  1. Click Save.
  2. To see the dynamic content as it will appear on your website, click Preview
  3. Click Publish.

PreviewLink to this section

Omni CMS shows a preview of how your page will look and behave once it's published. While editing an editable region, click Preview in the page actions toolbar. Select the Dynamic Content and Variations dropdowns to see what the page looks like with different variations.
