Templates and Layouts

As an administrator, there are two types of pages you can give your content editors: pages created from templates and pages created from layouts. Your site implementation likely came with templates and layouts but you can set additional options before your content editors log in to your site.

Template and Layout GroupsLink to this section

There may be sections within your Omni CMS site where only certain types of pages should appear (for example, only News Articles should appear in the News section). Template and layout groups allow you to create a subgroup of your available templates so only specified options are available in different sections of your site.

  1. Navigate to Setup > Templates.
  2. Click Template Groups.
  3. Click +New.
    New Template Group panel
  4. To group layouts, click the Layouts tab.
  5. In the Name field, enter a name for this group.
  6. Select the checkboxes associated with templates or layouts you'd like included in this group.
  7. Click Create.

Assign a group to a section

  1. Navigate to Content > Pages and find the section you'd like to associate with a template or layout group.
  2. Click More Actions More Actions Menu.
  3. Click Edit > Access.
    Folder Edit Access Menu
  4. In the Access Settings box, from the Template Group dropdown, select the appropriate group.
  5. Click Save.

Custom Toolbars for TemplatesLink to this section

The toolbars present when editing pages created from templates are customizable and you can configure them for individual users or for individual pieces of content. For pages created from layouts, you can determine what content is allowed to be edited.

  1. Navigate to Setup > Toolbars.
  2. Click +New.
  3. In the Toolbar Name field, enter a public name for this custom toolbar.
    Custom Toolbar Settings panel
  4. In the Buttons field, select the checkboxes associated with the tools to include in this custom toolbar. Deselect the tools you'd like to remove.
  5. In the Options field, in the Paste field, choose the radio button for the appropriate paste option.
  6. Click Create.

For pages created from templates, assign a custom toolbar to a user as follows:

  1. Navigate to Setup > Users.
  2. Click on the name of an existing user to open their user profile.
  3. In the Restrictions field, from the Toolbar dropdown, select the appropriate custom toolbar.
  4. Click Save.
