Create Dynamic Content
Users levels 8 through 10 can create three types of dynamic content: Text, Block, and Page Forwarding.
Each type of dynamic content has 7 variations. You can set your customized content to show based upon:
Returning visitor | A person who visits any tracked pages on your website more than once. |
Geolocation | The geographic location of your website visitor. |
Page visited | Your website visitor lands on a page that you specify. |
Page most visited |
Your website visitor lands on a page you've specified more than they land on other tracked pages. |
Page most recently visited | Your website visitor lands on a page you've specified more recently than they land on other tracked pages. |
Segment | Categories (segments) of your website visitor characteristics and attributes. |
Events | After your website visitor clicks on an Modern Campus CMS calendar event. |
If you purchased the Known Contact Personalization module, you can also create dynamic content based on visitor characteristics (segments).
Dynamic Text ContentLink to this section
For this example, let's create dynamic text based on a returning visitor to our site. Dynamic text content inherits styling (font, weight, and color) where it's placed.
- Go to Content > Personalization.
- Click +New.
- Type to enter a name for your dynamic content.
- From the Type dropdown, select Text.
- Or Block or Page Forwarding.
- Type to enter the default text.
- Default text is shown when the visitor first views your site or when no variations match.
- From the Base Rule dropdown, select Returning Visitor.
- Or Geolocation, Page or Event Visited, or Segment.
- Click +Add Variation.
- Select the number of visits.
- Enter the text that will show after a user meets the number of visits.
- Click Save.
- Add, name, and reorder additional variations (optional).
- Whichever variation criteria your visitor meets first will be the only variation they see. Use reordering to indicate the priority with which the variations are shown.
For example, reorder the variations for returning visitors so that the content designed for the "highest visit count" is placed at the top of the variation list. This way, a visitor who is returning for the third time won't see content from their first return.
- Whichever variation criteria your visitor meets first will be the only variation they see. Use reordering to indicate the priority with which the variations are shown.
- Add, name, and reorder additional variations (optional).
- Click Launch.
Your customized content is now available for use on pages.
