Visitors and Contacts

All users can see visitor data and use it to optimize your website based on analytics. With the addition of the Identified Visitors and Contacts module, you can also import your student contacts for use in personalization.

Go to Content > Instinct™ > Visitors (and Contacts) and click the filename for the visitor to see data, as follows:

  • Visitor/Contact

    A person who visits any tracked pages on your website. Visitors are assigned several first-party cookies that are used to uniqely identify them.

  • Visits

    The number of sessions for a particular visitor.

    A session is the period of time a visitor is active on your website. A session is defined as 30 minutes, so if a visitor is inactive for 30 minutes or more, any future activity is attributed to a new session. Visitors that leave your website and return within 30 minutes are counted as part of the original session.

  • Page Views
    Number of times the visitor viewed the page
  • Source
    The URL that brought the visitor to your website
  • Location
    Geographical location of the visitor (based on IP address)
  • First Page View
    The first page seen by the visitor
  • Last Page View
    The last page seen by the visitor
  • Type
    New or Returning (based on visitor)
  • Overview
    The visits, page views, and total time on website for the visitor
  • IP
    The IP address for the visitor
  • ID
    The identifier assigned to unique interactions with your website
  • Source
    The URL that brought the visitor to your website
  • Browser
    The application that brought the visitor to your website
  • Operating System
    The system software that brought the visitor to your website
  • Resolution
    The screen resolution of the device that brought the visitor to your website

If you have added the Identified Visitors and Contacts module, click the tab named for your import to see the contact data you integrated from your student information system.
