Create Dynamic Content

Users levels 8 through 10 can create three types of dynamic content: Text, Block, and Page Forwarding.

Each type of dynamic content has five variations: returning visitor, geolocation, page visited, page most visited, and events.

If you purchased the Identified Visitors and Contacts module, you can also create dynamic content based on visitor characteristics (segments).

Dynamic Text Content

For this example, let's create dynamic text based on a returning visitor to our site. Dynamic text content inherits styling (font, weight, and color) where it's placed.

  1. Go to Content > Instinct™.
  2. Click +New.
  3. Type to enter a name for your dynamic content.
  4. From the Dynamic Content Type dropdown, select Text.
  5. Type to enter the default text.
    • Default text is shown when the visitor first views your site or when no variations match.
  6. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Returning Visitor.
  7. Click +Add Variation.
  8. Select the number of visits.
  9. Enter the text that will show after a user meets the number of visits.
  10. Click Save.
    • Add additional variations (optional).
  11. Click Launch.

Your customized content is now available for use on pages.

Geolocation

Set your customized content to show based upon the geographic location of your site visitor, as follows:

  1. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Geolocation.
  2. Click +Add Variation.
  3. From the Region Scope dropdown, select Zip Codes, Counties, Cities, States, or Countries.
  4. Select the checkbox(es) for the region(s) to include in your scope.
    • Up to 25 regions.
  5. Select the radio button to show the variation if the visitor is inside or outside the region.
  6. Enter text or choose a file to show as your variation.
  7. Click Save.
    • Add additional variations (optional).
  8. Click Launch.

Page or Event Visited

Set your customized content to show after your site visitor lands on a certain page or clicks on a calendar event, as follows:

  1. From the Based On The Value Of dropdown, select Page Visited, Most Visited, or Events.
  2. Click +Add Variation.
  3. From file chooser, select the page or event visited.
  4. Enter text or choose a file to show as your variation.
    • Add additional variations (optional). Whichever variation criteria your visitor meets first will be the only variation they see.

For example, you may configure Variation 1 to display content only when your visitor has navigated to /about/contact-us.html and Variation 2 to display content only when your visitor has navigated to /admissions/scholarships.html. If your visitor has not navigated to either of these web pages, then your dynamic content will display your default content.

  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Launch.
