OUNAV Files

Files with extension .ounav function similarly to .inc files that are used for navigation. OUNAV files provide a simple interface for adding, deleting, editing, and organizing navigation links for a folder or section.

AppearanceLink to this section

OUNAV files are generally displayed in the same location on every page and you cannot edit their appearance using a page’s editable regions. If your template allows you to change how an .ounav file is used on that page, go to Properties.

Because every Omni CMS implementation is unique, the specifics of how your .ounav files look and function might differ, but these basic principles apply to most implementations (if you have a custom solution, you'll need to consult with an administrator or the developer notes for your implementation).

Adding Links to OUNAV FilesLink to this section

There are two ways to add links to .ounav files. Add them automatically when creating a new page or section, or manually when editing the .ounav file.

Adding Links Automatically

When creating a new page or folder within a section already containing an .ounav file, there may be an option to add a link to the page in the navigation file.

By selecting Yes, a link to this new page will automatically be added to .ounav.
In the Add Navigation Item dropdown, select "Yes" to add a link to this page in the .ounav file. Keep in mind, the .ounav file must be published again for these changes to take effect on your live site.

Publish the .ounav file for this new link to appear in the section's navigation on your live site.

Note: The "Unpublished Changes" status may not appear next to the .ounav file.

Adding Links Manually

To add links in an .ounav file,

  1. Click the filename to open the file in Edit.
  2. Click + ADD NEW.
  3. Click the link to edit its settings.
  4. Save and Publish the .ounav file.
